Asset Field Creation Variables

Field LabelFree TextDetermines the name of the asset field.
Type of FieldSingle SelectChoose from various different fields:
Text (a singular line text box), Memo ( A larger text box than "Text"), IP Address, Hyperlink, single selection (Add values in the table which are single select when using the asset field), multiple selection (Add values in the table which can have multiple selected from when using the asset field), checkbox(can be checked on or off). When using the single select type, you can specify a different colour for each single select option, this is chosen by editing the single select fields after the initial creation and saving of the asset field. This will colour that value when shown as a column in a table i.e. when you add this field to the asset list column profile.
System UseSingle Select

The System Use selected here will determine how this Asset Field behaves with certain other functionalities of the system. One, for example, will enable the field to be used alongside the AnyDesk integration. System use of parent-child link. When updating this field the asset will be linked to the asset of the specified type which also contains the new data.

  • RDP Address: Allows you to remote into an asset from Halo using Windows Remote Desktop.  You will need to enter the Asset's IP address in this field to generate a downloadable RDP file. Clicking the link will automatically launch your Remote Desktop client and connect using the address in the field.
  • Anydesk: Used alongside the Anydesk integration.
  • Parent-Child Link: Used when you would like Assets to automatically be linked together with a parent/child relationship when they both share the same value in this field. When chosen you will need to choose which Asset Type will be checked for matches, if an Asset of this Type shares the same value in this field it will be set as the parent. 
Asset Type of parent to match againstSingle SelectThe type chosen here will determine how the Parent-Child Link recognises which two Assets this field is linking together. (Only available when "Parent-Child Link" is selected in the system use field) 
MandatoryCheckboxDecides whether the asset field is mandatory or not.
Show on Ticket-Asset relationship edit screen
CheckboxShow on Ticket-Asset relationship edit screen: When enabled, this field will show on the relationship edit screen when selecting the linked Asset against a Ticket. This screen only shows when "When clicking a linked Asset, display the relationship edit screen" is enabled for the Ticket Type. 
Do not record change history for this fieldCheckbox​When enabled, Change History records will not be created for this Field. Can be used to toggle whether changes to the value in this Field will show in the Change History for the Asset or not.
