Asset Management will allow you to store & organise your managed devices, track detailed information against your Assets & assign Assets to Tickets for Incident/Request volume analysis per Asset. Check out the "Asset Management" FAQ Group on the Portal for detailed descriptions of asset configuration settings (Fields, Types, General Settings).

Terminology

Before we look at the different configuration options available within Asset Management, we should first understand some of the key terms around this subject:

  • Asset Type: Similar to Ticket Types, Asset Types allow you to store/track Assets of different types. Each Asset Type (Laptops, Workstations, Servers, Keyboards etc..) can have a unique set of Fields attributed to it, allowing you to track information specific to the Asset Type in question.
  • Asset Groups: Asset Groups are simply a means of grouping Asset Types.
  • Asset Fields: These correspond to the different pieces of data you care to track against an Asset of a certain type. Similar to Ticket type fields, you can use system Asset fields or create your own Custom Asset fields to track whatever information is required.
